Meet Melissa Rohani & Lisa Berman
Studio Gutow was founded by Melissa Rohani and Lisa Berman, whose diverse backgrounds inform the studio’s unique perspective. Lisa grew up surrounded by art and antiques; her appreciation for provenance and historical pieces was inspired by her father, an avid collector. She studied at Cranbrook Kingswood School and earned her design degree from Harrington College of Design in Chicago before starting her own interior design business.
While traveling between Asia, Europe and South America for sourcing trips, Melissa curated a notable collection of antique, vintage and modern furniture, lighting, and textiles. With a background in marketing, partnerships, and business development, Melissa leveraged her passion for design to launch a furniture and lighting boutique curated for interior designers.
Melissa and Lisa first crossed paths while Lisa was sourcing pieces for her design clients. Their shared creative vision soon brought them together to collaborate on projects along the California coast, and they eventually founded Studio Gutow.
The Studio
Studio Gutow was born out of a mutual love for textiles, contemporary art, and modern and antique furniture. Founded by Lisa Berman and Melissa Rohani, our designs intertwine modern sensibilities with a reverence for history, showcasing curated selections of furniture, lighting, and art in natural palettes and textured materials. We specialize in creating living spaces that are both timeless and deeply personal, blending tradition with innovation to redefine modern elegance.
Based in Laguna Beach, we are a full-service interior design firm dedicated to guiding clients through every stage of their project. From concept development to installation, we specialize in custom homes and large-scale renovations. We also offer 1:1 virtual consultations to assist with space planning, furniture selection, and more.

For over 10 years, we have collaborated with award-winning architects and builders to craft richly layered residences.
