Studio Gutow is a full-service interior design firm based in Laguna Beach, California, led by co-founders Lisa Berman and Melissa Rohani. Our studio is known for its holistic approach, blending modern sensibilities with a deep appreciation for art, antiques, and global influences. We create living spaces that are both timeless and personal, characterized by curated furniture, art, and natural materials. The firm also features a gallery with a thoughtfully curated collection of antique, vintage, and modern pieces from around the world.

The Senior Designer position is a full-time role based in Laguna Beach, CA, focused on leading high-end residential interior design projects from concept through installation. The ideal candidate will have at least 5-7 years of relevant experience, a strong understanding of architecture, construction, and materials, and proficiency in design software like AutoCAD and SketchUp. Key responsibilities include managing client relationships, collaborating with contractors and vendors, overseeing project documentation and budgets, and guiding project teams. Excellent communication, organizational skills, and a collaborative mindset are essential.

Under the direction of our Principal Designers, our Senior Designer will independently manage all aspects of our client design projects from concept to completion.

Qualifications

 

  • 5+ years of high-end residential interior design experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of architecture, construction process, and materials.

  • Proven ability to lead multiple projects independently and manage client relationships.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Highly collaborative and team-oriented

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Spreadsheets, and other relevant design software

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Lead interior design projects from initial concept through final installation.

  • Collaborate with clients to understand needs, present design concepts, and manage expectations with professionalism and creativity.

  • Participate in client and builder communication and manage assigned portions of projects. 

  • Coordinate with contractors, architects, and vendors to ensure design intent is realized.

  • Conduct site visits, manage sourcing, custom millwork, and architectural integration.

  • Create and oversee design presentations, drawings, FF&E specifications, and schedules.

  • Provide space plans, materials, finishes, and furnishings.

  • Maintain organized documentation, timelines, and budgets.

  • Guide and manage project teams, including junior designers, assistants, and external consultants.
